Sunday, March 22, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Many questions arise about whether we should gather for worship due to the coronavirus. For areas where there is minimal to moderate transmission, the CDC recommends: Community-wide mass gatherings of 250 people or more should be cancelled. And gatherings of more than 10 should be canceled if the organization serves higher-risk populations (older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions).

Our Sunday gathering is below 250 people, and our gathering does not serve only higher risk populations, therefore we are honoring the guidance of the CDC as we meet today.

However, in the future, if our government’s leaders require all citizens to stay at home, we will of course honor that decision and we will not gather for worship.

We will send out an email to announce any changes. If you are not on our email list, use the information panel in this bulletin to provide your email address, separate the panel from the bulletin and place it in the offering plate during today’s worship service.

When we gather for worship, I urge us to use God-given common sense. Let’s keep our distance, let’s hand-wave instead of hand-shake, let’s bring sanitary wipes to wipe the surfaces that we touch, etc. If you are a part of the higher-risk population (older adults or people who have serious chronic medical conditions), you should err on the side of good health practices and consider staying home. And I encourage everyone to use your own wisdom in determining what is best for you. You should err on the side of good health practices.

Let’s not live in panic and fear. Let’s pray for those who are affected by this virus. Let’s make phone calls to those unable to come to church. Let’s display the Kingdom of God to others in the name of Jesus.

Blessings,

Pastor Mike
